I don't feel safe in my own home.

Feeling unsafe in your home is something you should not have to worry about. Here are a few basic suggestions that may help you feel safer:

Don't make it easy for someone to get into your home. Make certain that all window and door locks are in working order and use them accordingly.

When you leave home, lock your doors, and if you are going to be gone until after dark, leave lights on both indoors and outdoors.

If you are going to leave your home for an extended period, again, make sure you leave lights on inside and out. You may want to put them on a timer. Make sure that you arrange for someone to pick up your newspaper and mail daily. Let the police know that you will be gone and request that your house be checked periodically.

When answering your door, check to see who it is first. NEVER allow a stranger into your home.

If you live alone, do not make arrangements to meet any salespeople in your home by yourself. Meet them at your office or if you have to meet them in your home, have a friend or relative be there with you. Before you sign anything, 123Pi will screen the company to make sure they are reputable.

These are just a few things you can do on your own.
